November 30, 2023 — St. Paul, MN — The International Window Coverings Expo (IWCE) will launch the Outdoor Oasis Pavilion at the event’s 2024 conference and show in Texas on April 11 and 12. Bridging the gap between indoor and outdoor custom window treatments, IWCE offers attendees a new perspective to sell to clients, capitalizing on the booming trend for alfresco living.
The state-of-the-art pavilion will be designed by three curated designers specializing in outdoor spaces and feature the latest inspiration in exterior treatments (shades, pergolas, awnings), furnishings, fabrics, lighting, and accessories. Strategically positioned in a high-traffic area, the Outdoor Oasis will be a significant highlight of the show, drawing visitors to experience the latest outdoor living options. The Outdoor Oasis design team will include the following designers:
Kim Boynton, nationally recognized as the Screen Queen due to her ability to solve almost every screen dilemma, is an entrepreneur, the owner of 3/8 & Co., and a mother of three. In 2003, she was given an opportunity to work in a manufacturing facility as an administrative assistant for a motorized screen company, starting her career in motorization. She was promoted to operations manager during her 13-year tenure at the company, where she oversaw production and administrative staff. Still, she knew she wanted more out of life for herself and her children, so she decided to start her own retail outdoor motorized comfort solutions company, providing installations for local builders and homeowners. Being a female in a male-dominated industry, Boynton faced several challenges, including not being taken seriously because she’s a woman in construction. Because of this, she decided to step up her game by becoming a state-licensed and insured Florida Specialty Structure Contractor. She has brought her innovative ideas in motorized screens, pergolas, storm screens and shutters, and patio roofing for over 20 years. 3/8 & Co. has an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau and a five-star rating on Google. Marco Morales is the director of design and estimating at Shades By Design. Hailing from sunny San Diego, CA, he boasts more than 15 years of architectural and construction expertise. His skillful repertoire encompasses design, drafting and project management. After earning his architectural stripes from a renowned school in Mexico and achieving certification from the University of Miami, Morales’ career has gracefully navigated the diverse terrains of commercial and residential construction. Moreover, he has transcended borders, leaving his indelible imprint on the design of movie theaters across the globe. As his career evolved, a profound passion for crafting innovative outdoor spaces ignited. Morales currently serves as the director of design and estimating at Miami’s Shades By Design Outdoors Division, orchestrating and shaping creative outdoor environments and pushing the shade industry to the next level.
Amy Wolff, CID, is an award-winning interior designer, decorator, and fine custom window treatments specialist in Scottsdale, AZ. For 20 years, she has provided clients with all types of soft and hard custom window coverings, including draperies, top treatments, shades, blinds, and motorization. Today, the Amy Wolff Interiors team of experts focuses almost exclusively on window coverings and custom upholstery and loves working with “anything” fabric. Wolff was recognized at the Vision 2022 Design Competition Awards as the first outdoor shading and design winner. Her design philosophy is simple: professional results, no drama!
The team of three designers will collaborate on the following aspects: automated window treatments, cutting-edge furniture and fabric, ambient lighting and audio, and flooring elements and accessories.
